Peace on Earth

This is something I've been thinking about for a while and hope I can make it make sense here. I have pondered just how much I dislike conflict, contention, fighting, anger, discord, you name it. I don't like it. I don't like it in movies, books, dreams, life etc. I want to live in a happy little utopia. Often we imagine that that's what heaven will be like. And it probably will be.

However, I was pondering the war in heaven, before we came here. How there was conflict in the pre-existence. Even there, in the presence of our Father; Satan had a rebellious spirit and was the cause of contention. Then I remembered a RS lesson and someone saying that this life is full of trials and hardship. That even the scriptures are a record of trials and how they were overcome with the Lord or destroyed without him. So once again still full of strife and contention. So I pondered how we are ever to obtain this utopia that I desire.

Then yesterday in our Sunday school class they asked which scriptural events we would have liked to have witnessed or been present for and why. Anthony mentioned the city of Enoch and how he'd like to see what a city like that would be like. I had similar thoughts and imagined how wonderful it would be! I kept thinking of that the rest of the day. I realized that in all we've ever learned the only way to have peace on earth is for each of us to turn to the Prince of Peace.

As a rule, I'm not one to try to persuade others. I tend to take a "live and let live" attitude most of the time. Yet as I pondered this the other day I came full circle and realized the obvious: to obtain "World peace" as so many wish for, we must do so through the Priesthood with persuasion, long-suffering, gentleness, meekness, and love un-feigned. We must rely on the fruits of the spirit. And we must participate in bringing others to Christ for this is the only way to have peace on earth. So I renew my commitment to be a mouth piece for the Lord in any way he would use me. I offer myself to him and hope to do my own small part in bringing about "World peace."
